Imagine being able to charge your phone without an outlet as you walk around your city or town. As you pass through wifi networks and the cellular and radio waves that pervade our world, the Rectenna (rectifying antenna) will convert the electromagnetic waves into useful electricity and store it for a variety of uses.

It uses a souped-up version of the same technology that’s behind our Wavelight . A bridge of special high-frequency signal diodes rectify the  EMF received by the antenna and converts it into voltage which is stored in banks of capacitors. A DC to DC converter then steps up the voltage to 5v, letting you charge a phone or other device via USB.
